Next year's burningman theme... Evolution.

Had an interesting burningman this year... it went super fast because I felt like I didn't quite unwind until Thursday, so it really only felt like I had a 4 day long burningman rather than 7... not surprisingly considering various factors (leaving to Peru, being on the emergency services mental health branch) it was a bit hard to let go of things on my mind... the last two years @ burningman it took me about 2 days to just totally shake off any sort of past/future worries and be absolutely in the present and just enjoy being out there... it was harder this year... (and for that reason I unfortunately think I won't be doing the emergency services stuff for at least a few more years).. on the other hand, I really liked being on the mh team... the people on the team are amazing and i just am awe-inspired by them... it fed my curiousity of what happens behind the scenes at burningman... i got to eat a yummy meal every day in an air-conditioned tent (huge luxury out there, especially considering i have a hard time eating when it's hot)... discussing various 'cases' and helping people out there was really neat... it's unfortunate that sexual assault and domestic violence occurs out there, but it's nice to be a part of helping people through it... so like i said, at the same time, it was hard to really 'let go' because of it.. and it's a real 'bummer' on your 'vacation' to be dealing with that sort of stuff.. i think in the slightly distant future i may be willing to take on such a responsibility and time commitment, but i think for the next few years i'm not ready..

so lets see... if you've read any news articles, you'd probably heard about the two huge sand storms that happened monday and saturday... monday's seems to be the worst i've ever experienced (though i've only gone two years prior).. the playa was not so great this year either with the sandiness... in the years past, we'd be zooming along the playa, i'd have a camera in one hand taking pictures as art cars drove by and we'd see tons of art installations.. this year they seemed to be not even 1/3rd of the art and you needed both hands to just keep from falling off your bike and to push through the sand ....it was literally biking through sand... the heat wasn't so bad (apparently because of the storms)... and the whole week was much easier to tolerate since having ayren/eric's RV to get some relief from the weather

it's like visiting another country for a week :) i feel like it really re-sorts my life and priorities being out there somehow... not exactly sure what exactly it is that does that.. maybe the extreme whether.. being exposed to so many things that are not in 'real life'.. who knows... but whatever it is, i think that's what gets me going every year... well that and alot of other things...
